The Georgetown Fireflies Camping Club is inviting the public to join its non-profit organization. The Georgetown Fireflies, a chapter of the Canadian Family Camping Federation (CFCF), has been enjoying weekend camping in Ontario for over 35 years. Members camp in trailers, motor homes, fifth wheels, tents, converted vans and pop-ups. The Fireflies meet on the first Monday of each month from September to June at the Georgetown police station, 217 Guelph St. at 8 p.m. Refreshments are served after the meeting. Group members share tips about places to go (and not to go), things to see, RV maintenance, routes to travel, places to eat, songs and stories around the campfire. "You will be surprised to see how much there is to do so close to home and how little it will cost you," says a Fireflies spokesperson. "After all, we are a non-profit organization and are looking only for fun and friendship."

The Fireflies host one campout out per year in June and all CFCF clubs are invited. The cost is $75 for the weekend per family. In turn, other CFCF clubs hold their own campouts throughout the camping season which normally include campground fees for two nights, hospitality night on Friday with refreshments, organized adult and kids games, breakfasts and potluck dinners, group campfires, non-denominational church service on Sunday morning. "Our purpose is to have fun and enjoy the outdoors in a safe, family-oriented environment and to enjoy our RVS on weekends in between our own holiday trips," The Georgetown Fireflies fall and wintertime activities can include mini golf, bowling, tours, theatre, card parties, potluck dinners and an our annual Christmas dinner/party. Annual membership is $2 per adult with children under 18 included at no extra charge. Membership in the Canadian Family Camping Federation (CFCF) is also required-- a fee of $30 per year per family.
