Independent & Free Press (Georgetown, ON), 7 Mar 2007, p. 16

Full Text

Until March 15, the Georgetown Wal-Mart will be raising money for Breakfast Clubs of Canada and school nutrition programs. During the Go Bananas! campaign, Wal-Mart's fundraising efforts will benefit kids who attend these nutrition programs every morning during the school year, and Wal-Mart customers are invited to donate a loonie to help kids get a good start to their day. "Our store is committed to supporting children's causes and raising money for Breakfast Clubs of Canada will ensure that kids get a bright start to their day and their future," said John DiVirgilio, store manager of the Georgetown Wal-Mart. Over the past four years, Wal-Mart Canada's Go Bananas! campaign has helped raise close to $3.5 million for Canada's kids through this initiative. Children who eat breakfast before starting class learn better because they are more alert and better able to concentrate. In Canada more than one million children live in poverty, putting them at risk of starting the day on an empty stomach. For details visit www.breakfastclubscanada.org.
