Description
Full Text

The Town will be saving close to $100,000 in electricity costs in 2007-- just with a flick of a pen. Halton Hills council approved the signing of an agreement to join the WattsWorth's Analysis Inc.'s buying group. Other clients of this group are the cities of Mississauga and London. Durham Region, Richmond Hill, Cambridge, Woodstock are other municipalities expected to join this year. Under the WattsWorth's strategy, the Town will save $65,000 annually for its facilities and $50,000 annually on its streetlighting costs. There will be a $17,000 penalty cost to exit the Province's Regulated Price Plan. The savings will result in a $97,000 reduction in the Town's 2007 operating budget. The contract expires in May of 2008. Halton Hills Hydro Inc., of which the Town is the sole shareholder, will not lose money on this deal as it will continue to distribute the electricity.
