A man and woman from Georgetown are facing charges in connection with four recent bank robberies and a gas station robbery in Peel Region. Peel Police report a man wearing a mask entered the Shell gas station on Hurontario St. in Brampton holding a plastic garbage bin at 4:15 a.m. Dec. 23. The man struck the cashier several times in the head with a sharp object and took a laptop computer, cash, cell phone and lottery tickets then fled to a waiting Dodge Shadow that had been reported stolen by Halton Police. The vehicle was later recovered at the Georgetown GO lot. The cashier required surgery for the head injury. At approximately 3:50 p.m. Jan. 2 police report a woman went into the Bank of Montreal on Sandalwood Parkway in Brampton and passed a note to a teller demanding money. She fled with cash. On Jan. 17 a man went into the Bank of Montreal on Goreway Dr. in Mississauga and passed a note to a teller demanding money. He left with cash. On Jan. 19 at 12:05 p.m. a man entered the Royal Bank on Main St. N. in Brampton and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The suspect became impatient with the teller and leaned over the counter and removed a small bundle of cash and fled. Police report on Jan. 22 at 12:10 p.m. a man entered the TD Canada Trust in Woodchester Plaza in Mississauga and passed a note to the teller demanding money. Again he was given cash, and fled. In all of the robberies a gun was indicated by the suspect, but was not seen. Charged in connection with the incidents with five counts of robbery, and one count of disguise with intent to assault cause bodily harm is Mark King, 26, of Georgetown. Also charged with two counts of robbery and one count of disguise with intent is Lisa Zawacki, 26, of Georgetown.
