A final-round 75 for Mary Ann Lapointe of Georgetown and a 67 by teammate Laura Matthews from Essex, Ont. pushed Canada up the overall standings to finish 15th at the Women's World Amateur Team Championship last week in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Individually, the 46-year-old Lapointe finished in a tie for 44th place at nine over par through the 72-hole tournament, while Matthews placed in a tie for 12th. The top two scorers from each country count toward the team standings. Both Matthews and Lapointe are veterans from the 2004 Canadian squad, which finished in second place, tying Canada's best showing ever at the WWATC.
