Dear editor, The Fundraising Committee of the Upper Credit Humane Society would like to thank The Independent & Free Press for its ongoing support of the Society's work. Recently coverage was generously given promoting the UCHS Book Sale in Georgetown Market Place on June 3 and 4 and the "Essence of Summer" Silent Auction and Afternoon Tea held on June 11 at Stonecroft Inn, Erin. Both of these events combined raised in excess of $6,000 net for the Society and will greatly help us in our work with the animals. Public support for our fundraising events is crucial to our ongoing mission. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who donated items for either of these events, who supported us by buying books or coming to the Silent Auction and Tea. Last but not least, kudos to the volunteers who worked tirelessly at both fundraisers, we could not do it without you. The Fundraising Committee and volunteers do not have a moment to relax as we gear up for the "Fore the Animals Golf Tournament" a joint venture with Orangeville Humane Society to be held at Caledon Country Club on Thursday, August 24 and The Amazing Dog Race-- a Walkathon and Pet Fair taking place at Cedarvale Park in Georgetown on September 10. Check our Web site www.uppercredit.com or call UCHS at 519-833-2287 or e.mail volunteer@uppercredit.com for more information on either of these events. Once again, those who cannot speak for themselves join us in a huge thank you to everyone. Judith-Anne Kolu, UCHS Fundraising Committee
