In the midst of a scheduling quirk that sees the Halton Hills Bulldogs play six out of seven games on their home floor, the team took a tumble last Thursday in Jr. B lacrosse action against a Mimico squad that it's scrapping with for a playoff spot. The Bulldogs fielded their full roster against the short-staffed Mountaineers at Georgetown's Mold-Masters SportsPlex on Thursday and the hosts weren't sharp, giving up the winning goal with just over two minutes remaining in the third period in a 9-8 decision. The victory moved the 9-5 Mountaineers past Halton Hills in the standings, although the Bulldogs were back in form on Sunday at the SportsPlex, drubbing last-place Milton 11-3. Eleven different scorers found the net for coach Blaine McCauley's side-- Brad Ethier, Nole Coutrouzas, Cameron Flint, Graham Knoepfli, Tim Walinga, Chad Artem, Brandon Goodfellow, Nic Grasby, Greg Henry, Mike Brown and Travis Bland. In the loss to Mimico, Goodfellow (2), Brown (2), Grasby, Braden Artem, Henry and Bland scored for Halton Hills. Coming up this week, the 'Dogs will face their toughest test of the season so far with back-to-back games against the top Jr. B team in the province, the 12-0 Oakville Buzz. The 8-5 Bulldogs will host the Buzz this Thursday beginning at 8 p.m. and then the teams meet again at Maple Grove Arena in Oakville Friday evening. Also this weekend, the John McCauley Memorial tournament takes place in Brampton.

Halton Hills Bulldogs' captain Travis Bland (left) presented a version of the banner bearing the late Adam Holton's jersey #27 that will hang on the wall of MoldMasters SportsPlex to Holton's mother, Danielle, at a ceremony before a recent game against Barrie. Holton was killed in a vehicle rollover last August and was a key contributor to the Bulldogs over the past couple of seasons. Bulldogs' assistant coach Ryan Marshall (centre) recently became a father and the name of the toddler is Holton Thomas Marshall. The club has also established an `Unsung Hero' award in Holton's memory and a sign reading `The Seventh Man' is displayed in the Bulldogs' dressing room for each game.
