Christ the King's Ryan Thomson was the lone local-area qualifier for next week's OFSAA Golf Festival in Ingersoll after placing third individually at the Golden Horseshoe championships last

Thursday at Peninsula Lakes near Niagara Falls. Thomson shot a round of 75 to earn a spot in the provincials along with the team from Burlington's Notre Dame. Brian Cvetkovic of Burlington Central edged out Georgetown's Luke Ovenden in a playoff for the final OFSAA berth after both finished regulation play at 76. Ovenden shot the low round of the day with a 73 last week at Oakville's Glen Abbey in the final event of the Halton series which determined the GHAC field.

Andrew Cardin of Acton chips onto the 13th green at Glen Abbey Wednesday. He finished fifth in the Halton high school series with a three-day total of 235 but finished well back of the leaders at the GHAC tourney Thursday.
