Grade 4-5 students at Park Elementary School sampled a variety of African and Caribbean instruments last week when musician and master drummer Muhtadi Thomas paid a visit. A native of Trinidad & Tobago, who now resides in Markham, Thomas is devoted to community arts projects involving children and his Heartbeats interactive workshops were introduced to the local students by the Caribbean Association of Halton to help observe Black History Month. Pictured with Thomas are, from left, students Lorna Linton, Andy Huang, Nick Phillips and Keegan McKay.
