Halton Police are investigating a rash of vandalism in which 39 windows were broken, resulting in more than $20,000 damage, at Christ the King Secondary School early Sunday morning. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call them at 905878-5511 ext. 2106 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-TIPS (8477). Halton Police report shortly after midnight they received a report of approximately five youths breaking windows at the rear of the Guelph St. school. When police arrived the youths were gone. Giacomo Corbacio, superintendent facility management services with the Halton Catholic District School Board, said marbles or ball bearings (police said a slingshot and a bb gun) were used to break the windows. "We're working closely with Halton Police, as well, we have our own security company on retainer," said Corbacio. He said it's not unusual to have windows broken at schools, but 39 at once "seems to be excessive." "We've got them on order and it's going to take about six weeks to get some of them," said Corbacio. "It's very unfortunate that this has happened," said Corbacio. "It hurts all the students and residents of Christ the King."
