PORTER, Hal (Harold Pearcy- Teacher Don Mills Middle School) -- Beloved and devoted son of Pearce and Norma Porter, Thornhill, Ontario (formerly of Georgetown and Mississauga). On Saturday, October 3, 1998 at Princess Margaret Hospital. Hal will be greatly missed by Ian, Tracy and Cliff, Julie and Dave, Aunt Rena and many cousins, "Funny Uncle" of Jamie, Megan, Laura, Bryan and Michelle. His chrisma, his passion for his family and close friends, his love of singing, music, theatre, curling and his ability to light up a room when he entered, holds many happy memories for his friends and colleagues. He represented Georgetown and District High School as a Rotary Exchange student in 1978, spending a year in Holland. He appeared in several High School and St. John's Church musicals and plays. He had a gerat rapport with his students ans was well known for his expression "Life isn't always fair" at critical times in the classroom! Sincere thanks to Drs. Benny Chang and David Fletcher for their dedication and compassion, as well as Drs. Surgeon and Bryson and all the kind and caring staff on Floor 17B for making Hal feel so special. Friends called at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, on Monday, October 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration service of Hal's life was held Tuesday, October 6, 11 a.m. at Thornhill United Church, Thornhill, Ontario.
