ROCKWOOD
A despatch from Pekin reports that Chinese robbers shot and killed Jorne the five-year-old son of Rev. R. O. Joliffe, of the Canadian Methodist Mission. A party of missionaries were attacked by the robbers between Chengtu and Chungking in the Province of Szecheun. One of these was captured but the rest escaped. Rev. Mr. Jolliffe is a native of Rockwood, and had been in the mission field for ten years. He had just returned to China after a furlough spent in Canada. Friends here sympathise deeply.
