Remains Brought from Laura, Sask.
Thomas Miller, for many years a resident of Acton, died at his home at Laura, Sask., on Sunday, 22nd January, after a long illness from cancer in the stomach. The remains were brought to Acton, arriving here on Tuesday morning accompanied by Mr. Orville Millar, son, and Mrs. W. N. Kennedy, the daughter, and her husband. In conveying the remains from Laura to Saskatoon, the terrible storm last week was encountered, and a delay of several days in getting through was caused. They left Saskatoon last Friday and reached Acton on the 10.15 train on Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Millar settled in Acton about twenty-five years ago. Mrs. Millar died at their home on Lake Avenue fifteen years ago. In 1897 Mr. Millar and his children, Mrs. Kennedy, now of Winnipeg, and Alfred, Orville and Clarence, all of whom survive, and reside in Saskatchewan, went to the west. The boys are all farming in Saskatchewan, near Saskatoon. Mr. Millar will be remembered by our elder citizens as a hard-working man, who had a good word for everybody. Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy and Mr. Orville spent yesterday and Tuesday with friends at Georgetown and Hornby and leave on their return trip homeward this morning.
