DEATH OF MRS. L. McMILLAN
Was Stricken With Apoplexy Twice
Within Two Weeks
Mrs. Lachlan McMillan died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. D. Smith, Main Street, where she has resided the past two years, on Wednesday of last week, after a brief illness. On the 6th inst., the old lady was stricken with apoplexy. A second stroke came thirteen days later and she died a few hours after.
Jane Eccles was born in Londonderry, Ireland, 74 years ago. Seventy years ago she came to Canada with her father, the late James Eccles, who settled in Esquesing, near Glenwilliams. She was married to the late Lachlan McMillan about fifty-five years ago, and they settled on lot 32, con. 2, Esquesing, the homestead now occupied by the eldest son, James. Mr. McMillan died fourteen years ago. Their four children, Mrs. W. D. Smith, Acton, James, on the farm, Cameron, who is at present at Regina, and Mrs. Malcolm McDougall, all survive. Only two members of her father's family are livng, Mrs. Robert Brown, Bower Avenue, and Mr. John Eccles, Glenwilliams.
Mrs. McMillan was a godly woman, a kind-hearted neighbor and was highly esteemed.
The funeral on Saturday afternoon was conducted by Rev. J. C. Wilson, B.A. The following friends from a distance attended: Mr. and Mrs. Elliot, Marden; Mr. Wm. Eccles, David Eccles and Mrs. Reid, Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Chisholm, Erin Village; Mr. and Mrs. John Eccles, Glenwilliams; Mr. and Mrs. C. McMillan, Erin; Miss Jean Smith, Oakville.
