Drowned while Coasting.
Edward, the four-year-old son of John Gillies, caretaker of the rink at Preston, was drowned in the River Speed on Monday. The lad was sleigh-riding near the river bank, close to his home, and evidently ran into the open water. The father on his return home missed the boy and found the sleigh floating, with the remains of his son near by.
