ROCKWOOD>
After a life full of years and an honorable career death came to John Blanchfield, of Eramosa, at his home Woodland Farm, near Oustic, on Saturday morning. The funeral took place from the family residence, on Saturday afternoon. The cortege first proceeded to St. Joseph's Church, where the burial service was conducted by Rev. Father Feeney, pastor of the Church. A long line of conveyances followed the remains, and all sections of the township were represented in the concourse, as well as quite a number from this village.
At the church Rev. Father Feeney pronounced an affecting eulogy over the remains. He spoke of the fine character of the deceased. In him the beauties of holy religion found a true exemplar. He was a model husband and father, a pattern not only for those of his own church, but for the people of the community in which he lived. Sincere and honest, he was always disposed to do his duty to God and his neighbor. As the casket was borne from the Church the beautiful hymn, "Nearer my God to Thee," was impressively rendered.
