A Victim of the Railway Disaster.
The circle of mourners for friends killed in the terrible railway horror at Chatsworth, Ill., is wide indeed. One of the victims was Mrs. Lanson Blandin, nee Miss Florence Smardon, a cousin of Mr. C. C. Speight. Mrs. Blandin left her home at Peoria, on the ill-fated train, with her two little ones intending to visit her mother at Markham, but when only a few miles from home she met a horrible death with scores of others. Her little ones survive her. Mrs. Blandin occasionally visited Acton in her girlhood days, and a number of our citizens were well acquainted with her.
